About the Course.
The Respect course is a One-hour course designed to initiate your journey of developing an effective and culturally safe therapeutic relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and assist with your engagement and support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural education.
Learning outcomes
The course will equip you with knowledge of the richness and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture, values, and social practices and how these elements may influence health practice.
Completing the course, you will be able to outline and recall the following
- The diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language, culture, and ways of knowing pre colonisation.

Duration of the Course
Being a short course learning and assessment consist of:
- Education Activity: 40-minute learning – embedded videos of content.
- Reviewing Performance: 20 minutes Assessment – Question and Responses
- Total time: 1 hours (40 min EA and 20 min RP)
Completing the Course
Upon completion of the course, you will receive the following information. A record of your participation and attendance will be provided you within 30 days of the activity’s completion.
This will include:
- The statement of attendance or completion.
- Your name and RACGP member number.
- Activity ID number.
- Activity title.
- Date of the activity or of its completion if over a period of time.
- Number of CPD hours allocated to the activity and the type of activity (EA, MO, RP).
- Provider details including logo.
